Dades de l’últim informe “Global Entrepreneuship Monitor; GEM” 2022-2023 indiquen que Catalunya continua liderant l’activitat emprenedora a Espanya amb una TEA del 6,9%.

La intel·ligència artificial (IA) ha tingut un paper protagonista a l’edició del Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. Aquest esdeveniment, celebrat a la Fira de Barcelona, s'ha convertit en un aparador per tot tipus de solucions de la IA: des de robots humanoides fins a aplicacions generatives. La tecnologia de la IA és una de les tecnologies que ha tingut més pes al congrés, juntament amb les pantalles plegables, xips per mòbils, resolucions de pantalles, realitat virtual, augmentada i mixta i connectivitat 5G i 6G. Les grans tecnològiques internacionals com Samsung, Google, Microsofti, IBM, Amazon o Qualcomm, han mostrat aplicacions de IA en els seus productes, des de xatbots per operar amb els dispositius, fins a avatars conversacionals.
També s’han presentat nombroses aplicacions d’IA aplicades a la salut, per l’automatització de processos empresarials i com a futur de la mobilitat, tant amb la mostra de vehicles autònoms o voladors, com el desenvolupament d’algoritmes de predicció del trànsit, etc. permetent una gestió més intel·ligent de les ciutats.
Finalment, cal destacar el discurs inaugural del president Pedro Sanchez que va anunciar la creació d’un gran model fundacional de llenguatge d’IA. El projecte cerca desenvolupar un model de llenguatge específic per a les llengües de l'estat. Això impulsaria la indústria tecnològica espanyola i promouria la sobirania tecnològica i de dades. A més, es destaca la importància d'un enfocament multilingüe i multicultural en l'entrenament d'aquests models per proporcionar context i evitar biaixos.
